DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket is for True Falcons Fans

The Atlanta Falcons didn’t play so well in 2007, and plummeted the season with a 4-12 record. Little wonder that management decided to replace the head coaching position for the 43rd season with Mike Smith, the former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator. Mike Smith was known for his work on the Jaguars, and in particular strengthening their defense, which may bode very well for the new Atlanta Falcons. Mike Smith has not had much head coaching experience, but with a 4-12 record in 2007, there’s little where else to go but up.

Most Atlanta Falcons fans say that the team is on the road to recovery, since all the major changes that have been happening in recent years were sorely needed. The NFL 2008 Draft did show some promising picks for the new season including quarterback Matt Ryan, who was considered one of the best quarterbacks in the draft. The team also won praise for signing Sam Baker, Curtis Lofton and Chevis Jackson.

What remains to be seen is whether or not Ryan and other spectacular picks can quickly adapt to a professional level game and keep healthy. Some say it may be too soon to bring Ryan into a starting position, especially with a questionable offense backing him up. Many experts faulted the team’s strategy regarding defense, while fans stayed true to Atlanta, citing that the 2008 draft was the beginning of an important rebuilding process that could take a few seasons to complete.
